- Joseph Waldvogel posted the following:
-
- : IBM program on the Amiga, No Matter HOW MUCH YOU OPTIMIZE THE PROGRAM, is still
- : going to NEED a faster Processor then a 68000, and 1 or 2 megs of RAM! You just
- : can't keep software Compatible with 10 year old Tech Amiga's! The Minimum
- : Requrments need to move up! I'm talking Amiga's with at least a 030, 6 Megs of
- : Ram, and HD's as Standard! Otherwize will just keep getting few software
-
- and you think that having an A600 with HD, 28MHz 020 and 4MB of fastRAM
- _isnt_ moving up??
-
- either get a decent argument, or stop posting.
-
- : Yes I've been Thinking moving on to the PC, and in fact would if I could Afford
- : it myself, that's where the software is, PERIOD! Sure I don't like the Windows
-
- hell, if you are in this frame of mind then just bugger off and GET a
- damn PC then - you certainly SEEM to want one....but if you are going to
- bloat up the Amiga architecture just so we can run badly-optimized,
- bloated PC-type s/w then you ARE NOT on the Amiga train....i SUPPORT
- Amiga supporters, but your ideas are NOT on the right track,
-
-
- : MINIMUN Amiga Standered Down to 68000 processors, and maybe a couple Megs or Ram
-
- ???? at least someone whos upgraded their A600 to 020-power would get my
- FULL support - its better thewn the average-joe who would get a base
- A1200 (wiuth no fast RAM etc etc) and keep it that way (and then
- complain when a DOOM-type game wont run on it - and when no WWW bowser
- runs in 2MB of ChipRAM!
-
- : CUT anything out! Say Netscape for the AMIGA! It's a 4+ Meg program, at least
-
- ???? NetScape can just f**k off! it doesnt do anything REALLY special
- that no other WWW browser in development cant do! its WELL over bloated,
- BADLY written...it DOES NOT do a great job of WWW browsing....its just
- the gfx that save it - Lynx surfs properly.. we'll just have to WAIt
- that little bit longer for MindReader, AWeb, Voyager...THEN you'll stop
- complaining (i hope!)
-
- : needed 4 Megs on the AMiga also, then so Be it. But hell with Cutting out all
- : the things the Make it Great so that it'll run on say a 2 Meg Amiga with a 68000
- : processor! No Thanks!
-
- once again, there is NO, NO (and NO! again!) reason why a Web browser
- cant run on an A500/600/2000/1500/3000 with lowly (!) 3 MIPS CPU power
- (eg fastRAM equiped 28MHz 020 - or 25MHz 030 - hell, the A500 even
- had/has an 040 accelerator 4 years (!) before the A1200 ever did!)
-
- the browsing only runs at about 19.2Kbps for most people anyway!
